Editor-in-chief Schmitt leaves “Exxpress” | Nachrichten.at

She will take over Schmitt’s agendas together with the deputies. There are no bad words when saying goodbye. In the last few months, both Schmitt and she have been working on a reorientation. Schmitt will dedicate herself to new projects of her own in the future, while as editor she will concentrate on the further development and positioning of “Exxpress”.

“More excitement at work”

Schmitt writes on “X” that he is working on a German-language format that focuses on Europe and its politicians. He wanted to feel a little more tension in his job and first escape everyday office life, at least for a few months.

Recently there was excitement about a posting in the “Exxpress” forum that had not been removed for a long time. In the article “Criticized ORF compulsory tax: This is how you can resist,” which was published on Thursday, a user noted that Molotov cocktails used to murder ORF employees would be “something nice.” “ZiB 2” anchorman Armin Wolf, who was used to illustrate the article, drew attention to the posting on X (formerly Twitter).

This “open call for murder” had not been deleted for 30 hours, he wrote and later noted that the comments on exxpress.at are apparently screened and approved in advance before they become visible to other users. The Vienna police responded and announced that the matter had been forwarded to the responsible colleagues. “Exxpress” told “Standard” that it had deleted the comment immediately after it became known. They also reported the incident and will work with the authorities. Apparently the comment function in the “Exxpress” forum has now been deactivated.
