An Edmonton man won more than $1.6 million thanks to a winning lottery ticket he had for several months.
Giuseppe Bruno was walking with his grandchildren when he had the idea to check his lottery tickets on the Lotto Spot app.
The winning Lotto 6/49 ticket was dated March 11, and allowed Mr. Bruno to win $1,666,666.70, the “Edmonton Journal” reported.
“I saw the amount on my screen and shouted to tell my wife. She came into the room asking what was going on. We were both stunned,” Mr. Bruno said.
“To be honest, we’re still digesting it and we don’t know what to do with it yet. [de l’argent]. We will pay some bills and share with our family, but following that, the money will probably go to the bank for a while,” he added.
The winning ticket cost the father $8, who had to share a total of $5 million with two other people from Ontario.
Lotto winners have one year to claim their money from the announcement.
