North Korea’s Central News Agency reported that Kim Jong-un said in a speech at the year-end meeting of the ruling Workers’ Party: “I think one mistake we should not make again is to regard those who call us ‘main enemies’ as the target of seeking reconciliation and reunification.”

Agence France-Presse reported that the five-day meeting of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party ended yesterday. Kim Jong-un attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Kim Jong-un said: “The United States has long caused and worsened political instability on the Korean Peninsula. Even though the year is coming, the United States continues to pose various types of military threats to our country.”

South Korea, Japan and the United States recently launched a system to share real-time information on missile launches against North Korea to counter North Korea’s rising missile and nuclear threats this year. North Korea has previously described Washington’s deployment of B-52 bombers and other strategic weapons in joint U.S.-South Korea exercises on the Korean Peninsula as a “deliberate provocation for nuclear war.”

“We must quickly respond to a possible nuclear crisis and continue to accelerate preparations to mobilize all tangible resources and forces, including nuclear weapons, in an emergency to pacify the entire territory of South Korea,” Kim said. Relations between the two Koreas have deteriorated to a low point this year . After North Korea launched a spy satellite into orbit last month, South Korea immediately announced it was suspending part of the 2018 inter-Korean military agreement.
