College basketball legend and former Hellenic Men’s National Team coach Rick Pitino returns. The accomplished coach, who developed particularly strong ties to our country and its basketball, accepted the offer of an expanded collaboration between him and his associates on development issues to provide US college basketball expertise and suggest ways its implementation in the development program of the EEC.
Today (27/3), coach Pitino met at the EEC offices with EEC president Vangelis Liolios, general manager Dino Sverkounos and national team manager Dimos Dikoudis where they discussed the basic plan of this collaboration, while he watched with colleagues and the training of the National Youth Team, in view of its participation in the “Albert Schweitzer” tournament in Mannheim.
Rick Pitino pointed out the importance of development, saying that “this is the main demand for Greek basketball, to have a proper development of the young players not only to be good for their teams, but for the National team, this is the” key” to see how many can become the next Diamantidis and Spanoulis, the creation of this system is the most important.
