Efforts to End Sudan Conflict: US State Department and Saudi Arabia Commit to Humanitarian Needs

The US State Department said that Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and his Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal bin Farhan affirmed, during a phone call on Friday, their joint commitment to ending the conflict in Sudan and meeting humanitarian needs there.

The fighting that broke out on April 15 displaced civilians from the Sudanese capital and also caused ethnically motivated attacks in the Darfur region.

Regional and international mediation efforts have not yet succeeded in ending the fighting.

And battles broke out, described as the most violent between the two parties since the outbreak of the war in Sudan, which completed its third month, on Friday, between the army and the Rapid Support Forces, in parts of the city of Khartoum North.

Residents said that the two warring factions in Sudan have engaged in violent clashes in parts of the city of Bahri, a day following both sides welcomed new mediation efforts aimed at ending the three-month-old war.
