Egypt announces a new plan in Sinai… and Israel is waiting

Egypt – Israeli media shed light on the Egyptian government’s plans to develop and rehabilitate Sinai and establish dry ports nationwide, including the new port of Taba, adjacent to the Israeli border.

The Israeli news website port2port, which specializes in transportation affairs, indicated that the Egyptian government decided to allocate land to the “General Authority for Red Sea Ports” in order to establish the “Taba Land Port” and the sea port there, within the framework of Egypt’s program to develop and rehabilitate Sinai and establish dry ports nationwide.

Egyptian Minister of Transport Kamel Al-Wazir revealed for the first time last year the details of establishing a sea port in Taba, and studies of the port have been fully completed and will begin soon.

The “Minister” added, during a telephone conversation with the journalist Ahmed Moussa, on the “On My Responsibility” program, broadcast on the “Sada El Balad” channel, that the Taba sea port consists of a land port, sea piers, and a cargo and passenger terminal, indicating that the Al-Arish-Taba logistical corridor It will serve the trade of (Bir al-Abd, Al-Fardan, Al-Arish, and the Port Said link). Jordan and Iraq requested that all their trade be transferred through the Al-Arish-Taba corridor.

He explained that the logistical corridor is a production area (industrial, commercial, agricultural, tourism) and connects ports with all forms of rapid land transportation, noting that President Sisi issued directives to develop the transportation sector, especially railways. To help in the rapid arrival and transportation of goods.

He pointed out that a passenger and goods train will operate in Sinai during next October’s celebrations, stressing that Egypt has 15 dry ports, 2 of which are operating and the rest are under development and construction and under contract.
