Military spokesman Daniel Hagari said Israeli forces were fighting in the Kfar Aza kibbutz, near the border with Gaza, and searching several towns for possible infiltrators.
“Our forces are present in every city, there is no city without an IDF force,” Hagari said.
He added that the objectives of the operation were to evacuate Israeli civilians from border areas, stop fighting on Israeli territory, seal gaps in the security fence and continue attacking terrorist targets in Gaza.
