Egypt’s Madinaty Golf Club to Host 2026 World Golf Awards in Africa First

Madinaty Golf Club in Egypt will host the 13th annual World Golf Awards from November 5 to 7, 2026, marking the first time the ceremony will take place on the African continent.

A Historic First for African Golf

Specialised international outlets, including Golf Today, Golf Business News, and Golf Industry Asia, reported that securing the event strengthens Egypt’s footprint on the global golf tourism map and highlights its capacity to stage major international sporting events. The gala ceremony is scheduled for the evening of November 7, closing out a multi-day itinerary that includes the World Golf Awards Classic tournament on the club’s 18-hole championship course.

Robert Trent Jones Jr. Designed the Course

Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., the par-71, 6,900-yard course previously hosted the Asian Tour International Series in 2022. Owned by TMG Golf and managed by Troon, the facility is situated within the master-planned eastern edge of New Cairo. The St. Regis New Capital, Cairo, serves as the official accommodation partner for the visiting delegates, VIPs, and industry figures.

International Praise for New Cairo Venue

Chris Frost, Managing Director of the World Golf Awards, said the venue brings an international pedigree to the organisation’s inaugural African event. Madinaty Golf Club is a world-class destination — a championship course of international pedigree, set in New Cairo, and blessed with splendid year-round weather that makes it perfect for golf, Frost said.

Club Wins Multiple Regional Awards

Foreign media coverage pointed to the club’s existing accolades, noting it has been named Egypt’s Best Golf Course five times and Africa’s Best Golf Course three times by the awards body. Its integration of sports facilities, swimming pools, a gym, spa, and dining venues supports its expanded role in hosting large-scale tournaments.

Leadership Perspectives on the Milestone

Omar Hisham Talaat, Chief Business Development Officer at TMG, said the selection highlights the group's investment in integrated sporting and lifestyle destinations. We are delighted that Madinaty Golf Club has been selected to host the World Golf Awards 2026, a milestone event that highlights both the quality of our golf facilities and Egypt’s growing reputation as a world-class golf tourism destination, Talaat said.
