Bacteria are small, independent creatures that have their own metabolism. So they can eat, and some of them even need oxygen. They reproduce independently, without outside help, and they can also communicate with each other – similar to how we humans can talk to each other. Most bacteria cannot be seen with the naked eye, only with a very powerful microscope.
