Eight citizens lost their lives last weekend, resulting from a total of 19 road accidents that occurred on the roads of Luanda, according to the report from the National Police in this province

The Luanda Provincial Command of the National Police recorded, in the last 72 hours, that is on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th of March, on the roads of the capital city, a total of 19 road accidents, the causes of which are essentially linked to excessive speed and lack of caution when driving, which resulted in eight deaths, 16 injuries and material damage valued at more than four million kwanzas.

According to the chief inspector, Euler Matari, from the communications and image office, in the same period, 45 motorists, aged between 27 and 53, were arrested for the alleged crime of driving while drunk, disobedience and resistance. to the law enforcement officer, which will be forwarded to the Court in the next few hours.

The arrest results from 15 speed containment and traffic calming barriers, with the use of radars and other technical means for this purpose, mainly in the municipality of Belas, on Av. Pascual Luvualo; Estrada Nacional 100, in the vicinity of Ramiros and Palmeirinhas; on 11th Street; municipality of Cacuaco, close to Sacriberto and municipality of Viana, close to the Kero supermarket.

The report presented by the Police also includes the seizure of seven firearms, three of which are the AKM type and four of the pistol type; the recovery of electronic devices and household utensils, previously in the possession of criminals, as well as the arrest of 132 citizens suspected of committing various crimes. “Eight micro-operations were carried out across all municipalities in the province of Luanda, allowing the clarification of 30 crimes, including two crimes of qualified homicide, 13 crimes of robbery and 14 of theft”, he maintained.

As part of the regularization and inspection of motor vehicle traffic, 13 motorbikes were seized and 395 motorists were fined for various infractions of the Highway Code, with emphasis on 108 fines for speeding, 59 fines for lack of mandatory motor vehicle civil liability insurance and 32 for traffic obstruction while driving.
