NEW ORLEANS – The EKU men’s cross country team ranks #17 in the latest USTFCCCA Division I Cross Country National Coaches’ Poll with 143 points.

NEW ORLEANS – The EKU men’s cross country team ranks #17 in the latest USTFCCCA Division I Cross Country National Coaches’ Poll with 143 points.

EKU is ranked ahead of several Power 5 teams, including NC State, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Oregon, and Alabama.

The Colonels competed at the Virginia Invitational last weekend, finishing in 10th place with 284 points in a field that included 14 nationally ranked teams. The men beat five ranked teams from last week which include Colorado, Washington, Princeton, Iowa State, and Michigan. EKU also beat regional foes such as Wake Forest and Duke. The Colonels are ranked #4 in the latest Southeast Region rankings.

Taha Er Raouy led the Maroon and White in his collegiate debut at Virginia, finishing in 21st place out of 224 runners with an 8K time of 23:43.1. Mohammed Jouhari, Ahmed Kadri, Hakim Abouzouhir, and Keeton Thornsberry all finished in the top 100 at the Virginia Invitational.

The Colonels will travel to Louisville to compete at the Live in Lou Classic on Sept. 30.
