EL1: Earl Bamber sets the best time for Cadillac

The sixth round of the IMSA season began with a Free Practice session contested on the Belle Isle track in Detroit. For this last weekend in its island version before joining the city center next year, it was Eael Bamber who set the best time in the first Free Practice session with the Cadillac n°02 in 1 :20.178. The New Zealander edged out Ricky Taylor in the #10 Wayne Taylor Racing Acura DPi by 0.146 seconds and Oliver Jarvis in the #60 Meyer Shank Racing Acura DPi by 0.696 seconds. Olivier Pla took fourth place on his return to the championship in the #31 Action Express Racing Cadillac DPi, 0.891 off the fastest time. In the only other category entered, that of the GTDs, it was Mike Skeen who was the fastest with the Mercedes-AMG GT3 n°32 of Team Korthoff Motorsports in 1:30.759.
