From Software announced on December 7th, “elden ring]the new update patch Ver.1.08 has been distributed and the patch notes have been released. In this patch, the “Arena” function has been added. In addition, balance adjustments have been made to weapons and combat techniques in PvP/Single mode.

In the arena, you can battle with other players according to various rules, such as one-on-one duels, up to six-person brawls/cooperative battles, and battles by summoning spiritual bodies. All three types of arenas are located in Rimgrave, Cayrid, and the Royal City of Rodale. By touching the statue at the end of the door of the arena in each place, it is possible to participate in the battle. And in the arena of each place, the rules of different fighting are lifted. Once unlocked, the rules can also be selected from the statue near the Great Blessing in the Round Table.

First, the duel is lifted at the “Kingdom Arena”. The rule is to fight one-on-one until one of them is defeated within the time limit. This rule does not allow the use of Elixir Chalice Bottles and Scarlet Drop Chalice Bottles. On the other hand, Aoshizuku’s chalice bottle can be used 3 times.

Brawl/Co-op is unlocked in the Rimgrave Arena. Up to 6 players can participate, split into 2 teams in a joint battle, fight against each other as enemies in a brawl, and compete for the number of defeats within the time limit. You can use each of the Scarlet Chalice Bottle and the Blue Drop Chalice Bottle once. In a joint battle, the Holy Grail bottle used by defeating other players will be replenished.

The ban on ashes will be lifted at the “Kayrid Arena”. In a duel, a brawl, or a joint fight, you can use the ashes to summon spirits. Only one cremated remains can be used at a time, but in brawls and joint battles, if the player character dies and revives, the cremated remains can be used again.

The following items cannot be used in the arena:

Rune Arc / Cursed Pot / Raw Meatball / Warmth Stone / Mad Firestone

In addition, in this update, the anti-personnel damage scaling has been adjusted. Various weapons have been weakened. Details are below:

  • Lowered the power of counter attacks that are unique to piercing attacks.
  • Lowered the guard performance during attack when attacking with a shield held up, which is possible with a specific weapon type.
  • Lowered the ease of breaking the enemy’s stance in attacks other than combat techniques for the following weapon types
    Straight sword / piercing sword / heavy piercing sword / curved sword / katana / double-edged sword / ax / spear
  • Lowered the ease of breaking the enemy’s posture with the prayer “Beast Stone”
  • Lowered the power of the magic “Kaalia’s Swift Sword”

In addition, the overall balance of the game has been adjusted. Various adjustments have been made to weapons and tactics. Other bug fixes have also been implemented. Details are below:

  • Fixed a bug that consumable items were not replenished when selecting a blessing from the map and moving it.
  • Fixed a bug that restored stamina by switching to crouching state while dashing.
  • Fixed a bug that sometimes does not accept input for magic, prayers, and item use when guarding an enemy attack.
  • Fixed a bug that the physical attack attribute of some attacks of the weapon “Snake Hunter” was incorrect.
  • Fixed a bug where the second attack did not occur when the prayer “Black Sword” was activated with the holy symbol on the left hand.
  • Fixed a bug where the offensive power of the weapon held in the right hand would sometimes be reflected in the damage when the prayer “Mad Contagion” was invoked with both hands holding the Holy Seal in the left hand.
  • Fixed a bug that caused multiple damage judgments when jumping and activating certain spells and prayers.
  • Fixed a bug where combat arts would be activated with an illegal combination of weapons and combat arts in a specific procedure.
