During the opening of the work of the Executive Committee of the ECF – SADC, last Monday, in Kinshasa, the president of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) affirmed that the Democratic Republic of Congo is in the process of being recognized on the plan for the organization of the elections, because the electoral observation missions appreciated the work done by its institution.

It should be noted that the Director General of Elections and Referendums at the Electoral Commission of Namibia, Peter Shaama, assisted by Hilda Modisane of Botswana, opened the work of the ECF-SADC Executive Committee meeting which will close this Thursday.

This first meeting of the year 2024 follows that held on October 10, 2023, in Johannesburg, South Africa, in which the executive secretary of the CENI, Totho Mabiku, the deputy national executive secretary, Marie José Kamunga, as well as some directors of the Congolese electoral center.

As a reminder, ECF-SADC is an organization bringing together the Electoral Commissions of the following 15 SADC countries: Angola, Botswana, Zanzibar, DRC, Lesotho, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mauritius, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Eswatini, Tanzania and Zambia, which participate in collaborative efforts to strengthen electoral processes and promote democracy.
