In July, AO World has now completely withdrawn from the local market. All 18 locations will be closed, the German online shop has also been shut down. However, orders that have already been placed should still be processed. AO employed 450 people in Germany. It is unclear how the employees will continue.
In the future, AO now wants to focus on the business in the home market. The German branch was most recently responsible for regarding ten percent of the company’s total sales. In the 2020/21 financial year, this was the equivalent of around 1.946 billion euros. Around 265 million euros of this was attributable to the German market.
