Lebanese designer Elie Saab was the guest of honor at Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week, to present his first international show entirely dedicated to the elegance of the bride.
The show was held at the Barcelona Maritime Museum, where the audience discovered a collection of dresses that varied between the traditional style of huge sizes decorated with ornaments and modern designs with their cuts close to the body. The Elie Saab bridal collection for the spring-summer 2024 season consisted of 30 looks covered in white and executed with luxurious materials and decorated with sequins, pearls, and feathers. The designs were inspired by the gardens of the Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai, who lived between 1760 and 1849.
Designer Elie Saab established his brand in 1982, and he specializes in the bride annually by presenting two collections of bridal fashion aimed at the wide audience, in addition to designs of high-end tailoring that are executed for brides on demand. Bridal gowns account for 15 percent of Elie Saab’s sales, while ready-to-wear accounts for a large portion of the company’s revenue and is experiencing strong growth, while haute couture, children’s fashion, furniture and fragrances also perform well. The house currently has 15 stores of its own, but it seeks to increase this number to 25 by the year 2025. It also displays its designs in 300 multi-brand stores, and its perfumes are available in 14,000 points of sale around the world. Its most prominent markets are the Middle East, Europe, The United States is also considered one of the favorite brands of royal ladies and stars such as: Queen Rania, Princess Kate, Beyoncé, and Halle Berry, who won an Academy Award in 2002 wearing a dress signed by Elie Saab.
As for Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week, it runs from 19 to 22 April, during which 34 shows are presented in cooperation with 350 companies, 76% of which are from outside Spain and come from 34 different countries.
