Elise Mertens will begin her grass season in the Netherlands in June

Elise Mertens will begin her grass season at the WTA 250 tennis tournament in Rosmalen in the Netherlands, scheduled for June 10 to 16, organizers announced on Tuesday.

“I’m very happy to be able to participate in the Libéma Open again. It’s a tournament close to home with a lot of Belgian fans. I’m looking forward to it and I hope to see you there,” Mertens said in a video published by the organizers.

The Belgian number 1, currently 28th in the world, has participated in the Rosmalen tournament five times with a quarter-final in 2016, after coming out of qualifying, as her best result. She won in doubles in 2018 alongside Dutchwoman Demi Schuurs, beating Kirsten Flipkens and Dutchwoman Kiki Bertens in the final.

In 2023, the Limburger did not participate in the singles tournament but played the doubles with Demi Schuurs, and was eliminated in the quarter-finals.

The Rosmalen tournament, played on grass, serves as preparation for Wimbledon, the third round of the Grand Slam, scheduled for July 1 to 14.
