Embraer and Correios today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focusing on air cargo transportation. The two companies will conduct joint studies to advance the optimization and expansion of the national and international air network focused on large cargo and merchandise.

Strategic cooperation between the companies will seek to increase the efficiency of Correios in air transport and reduce operating costs compared to other modes, in addition to evaluating challenges and opportunities for new business models involving Embraer platforms, such as E-190F, E- 195F and C-390 Millennium.

Embraer is moving ahead on schedule to complete its first conversion from E-Jet to cargo version. The company carried out its first successful flight test. Embraer already has two contracts for the conversion of up to 20 E-Jets into freighters.

“With this partnership we will be able to bring more efficiency to our logistics network and thus benefit the Brazilian population, which is our greatest mission as a public company and agent of the federal government. We are the largest single air cargo operators in the country; no other logistics company has even half of the airlines and cargo handled by Correios”, says the president of Correios, Fabiano Silva dos Santos, highlighting that the remodeling of the state-owned company’s air network is part of the company’s modernization project, Correios do Future.

“We are very pleased to contribute with Correios in the study of a more efficient logistics network for the transport of goods, nationally and internationally. Embraer has a consolidated aircraft portfolio and the solutions to be studied together will allow Correios to expand the service offering to its customers, with high reliability and efficiency”, says Bosco da Costa Junior, President and CEO of Embraer Defense & Security .
