Emdgasen Film Festival in Algeria screens 29 short films

The second edition of the Emdgasen Film Festival will start tomorrow, Tuesday Imedghassen Film Festival In Algeria, with the participation of 29 short films from 24 countries, workshops were organized and a number of Arab filmmakers were celebrated.

The festival takes place in the city of Batna (northeast of Algeria) and derives its name from the famous Imadgassen mausoleum, which dates back to the third century BC and is among the oldest royal monuments in North Africa.

The cultural “Lamsa” Foundation, which organizes the festival, said that it received 2,283 applications from 109 countries to participate this year, after the success of the first session in March 2021, which was crowned with the film “”Igrin MaradonaDirected by Palestinian director Firas Khoury.

Among the most prominent films participating this year are “I will tell God everything” by the Algerian director Mohamed bin Abdullah, “Oud Matches” by the Palestinian director Mahmoud Ahmed, “Siko” by the Iranian director Mustafa Daotaleb, and “Tuk Tok” by the Egyptian director Mohamed Khader, The Last Battle” by Syrian director Mayar Al-Nouri.

The festival program, which runs until May 14, includes the organization of four workshops for students and amateurs, presented by directors and actors from Algeria and Tunisia.

The festival will also screen, outside the official competition, a number of feature films from Algeria, including “To the End of Time” by Yasmine Chouikh, “Abu Laila” by Amin Sidi Boumediene, and “Irfan” by Salim Hamdi.

The festival will host a group of Arab artists in its second session, including Khaled Bouzid from Tunisia, andAhmed Badir من مصر, وAbbas Al-Nouri from Syria.
