The media office of the Ministry of Public Health announced in a statement today, Sunday, that “due to the security situation in Ain al-Hilweh camp, the ministry, in cooperation with the Sidon Governmental Hospital administration, evacuated all patients from the hospital located on the outskirts of the camp in order to preserve their safety.”
The statement added, “A number of those suffering from critical health conditions have been transferred to nearby hospitals. Work is also underway to distribute dialysis patients to these neighboring hospitals so that they can receive the treatment they need that cannot be postponed.”
The city of Sidon had lived through difficult hours with the clashes taking place in Ain al-Hilweh camp, which resulted in the killing of a leader in the Fatah movement and a number of his companions. Shrapnel and stray bullets reached Sidon and would have caused casualties had it not been for God’s providence that prevented that.
