As research by “La Dépêche” shows, the father of the missing child is a former member of the ultra-nationalist group “Action Française”. The man from Yvelines now works as an engineer in Marseille and was also a very active activist in the organization “Bastion social”, another right-wing extremist political movement that was dissolved by official decree in 2019 after several racist attacks by its members.
Colomban S. had to appear before the criminal court in Aix-en-Provence in 2018 for an alleged attack on people with a migration background. He was eventually acquitted in this case.
In the 2021 regional election, Colomban S. emerged fourth on an electoral list in support of Eric Zemmour, whose views are associated with the extreme right. Colomban S. is also a member of the Catholic movement “Chrétienté-Solidarité”, a Catholic traditionalist and right-wing extremist organization founded in 1982. Pierre S., Colomban’s father and Émile’s grandfather, is their treasurer.

Marie S. grew up in a devout Catholic family, as the broadcaster BFMTV writes. Her father works as a masseur and physiotherapist. Marie S. is the eldest of ten siblings. She never went to school – the children were homeschooled.
In La Bouilladisse, a place 170 kilometers from Le Vernet, Marie S. organized a meeting to pray to “the venerable Sister Benoîte Rencurel” after Émile’s disappearance. A mass was held for the missing boy on Saturday evening.
Residents describe Marie and Colomban S. as “discreet and unobtrusive”. “They are very good people: a happy family without worries or problems, very loving and very religious,” says a neighbor.
