Antonio Decaro-Michele Emiliano: an endless soap opera. The president of the Puglia region and the mayor of the capital have been protagonists of a long-distance dispute for days that arose after the governor’s exit regarding a three-way meeting with the sister of the boss Tonino Capriati. First the governor’s anecdote about the meeting of the two members of the then Bari council, then Decaro’s denial and, finally, the (only partial) retraction of Emiliano himself. Is it over here? Not by chance because while the two wait for the storm to pass, a video appears on the web that leaves little room for ambiguity. Il Giornale reporter Annarita Digiorgio posted it on X, Elon Musk’s social network. The comment at the top is very exhaustive “The video from two years ago on Telenorba in which #Emiliano declared the same episode told on stage three days ago”.
But let’s look at it in detail. Interviewed by the popular television station, Emiliano talks about old Bari in the era in which he was the mayor of the capital: “It was a place where I entered, but I entered with the carabinieri, the police, the financial police – begins the governor -, there was a consideration of Bari as old as a fort”. Then the anecdote: “When we closed traffic in old Bari, the councilor in charge of installing the electronic equipment was called Antonio Decaro – Decaro himself appears on the screens and is in the studio as a guest of the program – who returns to the town hall very scared ”. The reason why? “Let’s say he had been encountered – in the streets of the area and, Emiliano recalls, citing the anecdote that started the controversy – we returned together, two of us, alone, to talk to the house of the ‘responsible of the place’ where this event had happened, who obviously didn’t expect to find me in the house.”
And there with – continues Emiliano – “I said to him, ‘the engineer is my friend and is here because he has to protect your children from cars, is everything clear?’”. In the images you can still see Decaro not batting an eyelid when the episode is remembered. A video that opens a new front in the long-distance controversy between the two. A service that according to Digiorgio leaves heavy questions, well summarized in the caption of the post: “#Decaro was a guest in the studio, why didn’t he deny it live? And above all: is there a ‘location manager’? And who would that be??? And does a PM mayor legitimize it??”.
