On Thursday, DJ Whoo Kid shared one photo on Instagram, featuring him, Eminem, and D-12’s Mr. Porter sitting in the same room. In the photo below, Whoo Kid is laughing while Em and Mr. Porter are busy with their cell phones. Mr. Porter appears to be using a modern smartphone, while Slim Shady is pushing buttons on a battered BlackBerry phone.
Whoo Kid added the following caption to the photo: “Eminem was in the dressing room trying to figure out who ate his last box of spaghetti. By the way, yes, he still has a Blackberry phone.„
BlackBerry phones, which became popular in the 2000s, were among the first widely used smartphones and were famous for their keyboards. The popularity of phones declined with the advent of the iPhone. The last BlackBerry model, the BlackBerry Evolve X, was released in 2018, and the company shut down its servers in 2022. So it’s not clear exactly what function the phone still plays in Eminem’s life.
