KHARTOUM, 11th September, WAM/ The Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for Humanitarian Works has provided humanitarian and relief assistance to more than five million people in brotherly Sudan during the past 15 years, including urgent relief as well as the fields of education, health and community service.

Since the foundation’s launch in 2007, the brotherly Sudan has been and still is within its humanitarian agenda program by providing development and relief aid to all of its states.

In its next report, the Emirates News Agency, WAM, reviews the efforts of the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for Humanitarian Works on the Sudanese scene over the past fifteen years.

The Foundation’s assistance included the education and health sectors through cooperation with local and international institutions and the Sudanese Ministry of Awqaf, while a number of multi-use cars and more than 50,000 luxurious Qurans and carpets were provided to furnish a number of mosques in different states of Sudan, in addition to digging water wells and organizing a project A fasting breakfast in addition to providing special equipment for the blind.

The UAE has always been and still is one of the first countries to reach, through its humanitarian institutions, the affected and stricken areas, and launched repeated relief campaigns over decades to help the brotherly Sudanese people in the face of many natural disasters, which had a good impact in alleviating the difficult conditions experienced by the brothers in Sudan. .

Foundation projects in Sudan.

2008 .

In May 2008, the Foundation, in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program office in the country, organized a workshop attended by delegates from Afghanistan, Comoros, Sierra Leone, Sudan and Palestine, as well as a delegation from the program.

In the same year, the Foundation was able to dig water wells in Darfur to provide drinking water to the people of the region under the difficult conditions they were living in.

2010. The Foundation began organizing collective iftar tables during the holy month of Ramadan in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, and a number of other cities, and the initiative is still continuing with the advent of the holy month.

2011. The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for Humanitarian Works supported the Guinea worm eradication program in four of the African countries where the disease is endemic, namely Ethiopia, Ghana, Mali and Sudan, through a partnership contract with the Carter Foundation, which is implementing the project, to obtain the World Health Organization’s certificate of eradicating the disease from these countries. the countries.

The project included training and supervision of village volunteers, health awareness and raising the level of disease detection in the various villages in which it is endemic, and then providing treatment.

2014. Donating equipment for the blind in Sudan, a humanitarian initiative that benefited a wide segment of Sudanese society.

2015 Organizing the Iftar project for the fasting person, which included several parties, namely the International University of Africa, and saw the distribution of meals that benefited 116/ thousand people during the holy month, in addition to the internal section for university students studying in Khartoum, “Musab bin Omair”, benefiting from 174/ thousand during the month of Ramadan, as well. On the board of female students of the University of Rabat, by 145/ thousand people, bringing the total number of students benefiting to about 435 thousand people.

2016. The Foundation distributed urgent aid in eleven areas in the Sudanese state of Kassala, during which it provided relief to five thousand families affected by torrential rains and floods that swept a number of states of the Republic of Sudan in that year. The aid included various basic foodstuffs and shelter tents, in addition to health supplies and other humanitarian materials.

2017.

The Sudanese Ministry of Guidance and Endowments received the second batch of Emirati support provided by the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for Humanitarian Works in coordination with the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments.

A memorandum of understanding was also signed between the Khalifa Humanitarian Foundation and the Sudanese Ministry of Guidance and Endowments, under which experiences were exchanged in the fields of training imams and preachers, organizing courses in the field of advocacy and guidance, and upholding the values ​​of Islamic heritage for the benefit of societies.

The Sudanese Ministry of Guidance and Endowments had received in the first batch of Emirati support provided by the Foundation, which included 115 thousand copies of the Quran that were distributed in Sudanese cities and rural areas, in addition to the maintenance of more than 50 mosques in Sudan, as well as the provision of 17 cars that had a tangible impact in advancing the pace of work in the Ministry The Sudanese Endowments, in addition to establishing a center for training imams and preachers in Sudan, and training many of them in the Emirates.

2018 witnessed the dispatch of an Emirati relief plane carrying 30 tons of relief aid to the victims of torrential rains and floods in Sudan, and a delegation affiliated with the Khalifa Humanitarian Foundation to oversee the implementation of the relief program for those affected, which targeted thousands of families affected by the torrential rains that swept the capital, Khartoum, and separate parts of the country.

And 30 tons of basic relief materials and shelter supplies were distributed to the beneficiaries, including 3,000 blankets and 700 tents, in addition to hygiene, sterilization and insecticides to help those affected by the floods cope with the situation at the time.

2019 The Foundation distributed relief aid in the flood-affected areas in 4 states: Khartoum, Gezira, White Nile and Sennar, and the number of beneficiaries in the four states reached about 30,000 families.

At that time, the relief team was directed to start buying relief materials from the local market in Sudan in order to shorten the time and to quickly reach the affected people in a short time.

2022. The Foundation provided urgent relief, which included food and medical aid to brotherly Sudan, which included 380 tons of basic foodstuffs and 4.5 tons of medicines intended for the affected and displaced people in Darfur states.

In addition to food and medical aid, digging of 8 wells to extract potable water has begun, 4 of them in East Darfur and 4 in West Darfur.

The food aid included basic items such as rice, flour, sugar, milk, tea and lentils, as well as personal care products.

An aid plane carrying 15 tons of basic foodstuffs and 15 tons of materials and medical supplies arrived in brotherly Sudan to provide relief to those affected by the floods that hit large parts of the country, after declaring a state of emergency in 6 Sudanese states.
