Emirates News Agency – Asian stocks fall, tracking Wall Street’s losses

Capitals, August 23 / WAM / Asian stock indices fell during today’s trading, tracking the sharp declines in the American Wall Street Stock Exchange last night, to continue its decline for the fourth consecutive session.

By 07:18 am UAE time, the Japanese Nikkei index on the Tokyo Stock Exchange fell by 1.17%, or 337.58 points, to reach 28456.92 points, while the broader Topix index fell by 0.9%, equivalent to 19 points, to reach the level of 1973.41 points.

In terms of Chinese stocks, the “ESI” Composite Index on the Shanghai Stock Exchange declined by 4.84 points, or 0.17%, to reach 3,272.56 points, while the Chinese Hang Seng Index fell by 0.59%, equivalent to 115.05 points, to reach the level of 19553.76 points.
