DUBAI, 14th June / WAM / The Ministry of Community Development announced the launch of the summer program “me and my brother” in government centers for People of Determination, which includes 40 workshops and programs that are being implemented in 6 centers for People of Determination affiliated with the Ministry, in partnership with the UAE Special Olympics, Dubai World Trade Center and the General Authority for Public Affairs The Islamic Endowments Authority, the Sharjah Museums Authority and a number of related authorities.
The summer program – which started today and continues until the end of this June – allows participation for all people of determination in the country and their siblings, as events are organized at the level of the Department of Care and Rehabilitation of People of Determination in the Ministry, in the Dubai Center for People of Determination, Ajman Center for People of Determination, Umm Al Quwain Autism Center, in addition to the Ras Al Khaimah Center For People of Determination, Fujairah Center for People of Determination, and Dibba Al Fujairah Center for People of Determination.
The activities included in the “me and my brother” summer program vary, both in person and by default, to achieve a wide participation of people of determination in various categories of disabilities and their families, members of “Mashaghel” and their families, teachers, supervisors and specialists in the centers.
The program also includes various sports and entertainment activities, competitions, specialized workshops and educational meetings, in addition to sessions and programs to educate the brothers of people of determination on how to deal with various disabilities and how to provide support to their brothers in achieving the goals of independence skills, in addition to workshops for the brothers of students of determination about the impact of excessive use of smart devices and transfer sessions Knowledge of the students’ siblings about the ways and methods of verbal and non-verbal communication during the summer period in an easy way to practice it at home and to maintain the student’s language level. As well as lectures and workshops on abuse, protection and rights to be provided to people of determination, and many other awareness and educational programs and events.
The “My Brother and I” program aims to enhance cooperation and love between brothers of people of determination and others at the family level through a range of programs and activities that support a happier and cohesive family environment.
The program also seeks to employ various non-traditional tools and methods to provide people of determination with the necessary skills, enhance their capabilities and awareness, provide them with the necessary skills in a smooth manner, involve them in taking responsibility, and enhance the speed of children’s response and their learning of concepts and skills that ensure the best forms of social integration.
