DOHA, November 27 / WAM / The Costa Rican football team maintained its hopes for the 2022 World Cup, with a precious 1-0 victory over its Japanese counterpart today, Sunday, in the second round of the fifth matches in the first round of the tournament.
The Costa Rican team scored its first 3 points in the tournament to preserve its weak chance of staying in the competition to qualify for the second round through the third round of group matches.
The Costa Rican national team advanced to third place in the group on goal difference only behind its Japanese counterpart, as the latter excels by a good margin of goals after its surprising victory over the German national team 2-1 and Costa Rica’s defeat against the Spanish national team 0-7 in the first round.
The first half of the match ended with a goalless draw, which remained between the two teams until the 81st minute, which saw the only goal of the match signed by Kisher Fuller.
This result was in the interest of the German national team before its upcoming confrontation today against its Spanish counterpart in the second match in the group.
