Emirates News Agency – Japanese stocks decline at the close of trading

ABU DHABI, 2nd August / WAM / Japanese stock market indices fell at the close of trading today, tracking the impact of the decline that dominated the performance of the rest of the Asian markets after the decline of the American Wall Street Stock Exchange last night.

The Japanese Nikkei index closed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange down by 1.45%, or 405.02 points, to reach 27588.33 points, while the broader Topix index fell by 1.76%, equivalent to 34.4 points, to close at 1925.7 points.

In terms of Chinese stocks, the “ESI” Composite Index on the Shanghai Stock Exchange fell in late trading by 48.4 points, or 1.48%, to close at 3,211.57 points, while the Chinese Hang Seng Index fell 2.03%, equivalent to 409.05 points, to reach the level of 19756.79 points.

The Bombay Synex index fell in mid-trading by 137.03 points, or 0.22%, to reach 5,7986.53 points.
