Emirates News Agency – Sharjah Social Council launches Birkat Al Dar project to support shelters for senior citizens and children

Sharjah, October 5 / WAM / The Department of Social Services in Sharjah, in cooperation with the Department of Awqaf in Sharjah, launched the “Barakat Al Dar” project, which is an ongoing charity to support shelters for senior citizens and children’s homes in the Department of Social Services in Sharjah.

Dr. Abdullah Al-Ketbi, director of Maliha branch, said that the initiative was launched on September 30, and lasts for 3 years, and aims to collect donations to build a charitable endowment consisting of a multi-storey building, the proceeds of which go to spend on all the belongings, services, needs and supplies for senior citizens and children who lack social care. To provide them with all the necessities of a decent life, pointing out that this initiative is part of social responsibility and community integration projects.

It is noteworthy that “Barakat Al-Dar” has been launched since 2016 as a voluntary opportunity, organized during the holy month of Ramadan, such as organizing activities and events for senior citizens, such as the daily collective iftar, which brings together senior citizens in government and private institutions and members of society to participate parents of senior citizens and children, who wish to break their fast with them, but With the Covid pandemic, the initiative stopped due to social distancing, and turned into a virtual initiative, and today it took a new form by launching endowment shares to support the role of sheltering senior citizens and children.
