Emirates News Agency – The Egyptian national team wins the Zayed Arab University Futsal Championship in Al Ain

Al Ain, December 31, WAM, The Egyptian national team won the title of the second edition of the Zayed Arab University Futsal Championship, which concluded its competitions yesterday evening, Friday, at the headquarters of the Emirates University in Al Ain, and was organized by the Emirates Sports Federation for school and university education institutions, in cooperation with the Arab Federation for University Sports. With the participation of 15 Arab countries.

The Egyptian national university team won the title for the second time after defeating the Moroccan national team in the final (3-4) with a penalty shootout after the end of the original time of the match with a 3-3 draw.

The Libyan national team also won third place after defeating its Iraqi counterpart with two goals to one in the match for the third and fourth places.

Dr. Saeed Al-Hassani, President of the Arab Federation for University Sports, crowned the Egyptian team with the first place cup and gold medals, in the presence of Dr. Mohamed Sobhi Hassanein, Vice President of the Arab Federation, members of the Executive Office, and Ghaleb Al-Buraiki, Director of the UAE University.

Moroccan national team player Anas Dajani won the tournament’s top scorer award with 11 goals.

Dr. Saeed Al-Hassani, President of the Arab Union for University Sports, expressed his appreciation and pride for all the delegations participating in the Arab Championship, which hosted elite people from the Arab world in a wonderful and organized demonstration of sports competition, during which the talents and creativity of students emerged.
Al-Hassani also extended his thanks and appreciation to His Excellency Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, Chancellor of the UAE University, for hosting the tournament, providing all capabilities and facilities, and overcoming all difficulties in order to make it a success, as well as to the university’s work team, the General Secretariat of the Arab Federation, Ibrahim Mukhtar, tournament director, Hamdi Khalil, general coordinator, and Hazem Abdel. Al-Mohsen, the technical director, for their efforts to produce the best image, and thanked the sponsors and strategic partners who contributed to the success of the event.
