It’s a small cabin, lost at the end of the world. To get there, we walk along a forest of barbed wire, we come across all-metal gadgets, antennas and radars, we pass a cemetery and a military barracks. Welcome to the Aéro Bistro, an unlikely spot frequented by all sorts of regulars. We are in Meyrin, just next to the Cointrin airstrip, north side, and the premises of the Aeroclub.

For more than thirty years, this bistro with terrace, endowed with a breathtaking view of the runway, has been a delight for aviation fans. Spotters come to admire the devices. Members of the Aeroclub, or service employees linked to airport activities – police, firefighters, etc. – regularly visit the bar and are attached to it. “Fifteen years ago, I already came here with my grandson in the stroller to see the planes”, says a lady from Meyrin, seated on the terrace, who came to see this same child take off on board an Emirates flight. “He has grown up well, he is going to the Maldives.”
