Employers with muted job growth expectations | 06/27/22

Austrian employers expect muted growth in the labor market in the third quarter of 2022. According to a survey, the hiring mood of companies has fallen compared to the second quarter of 2022, but remains clearly positive. Companies from Salzburg, Vienna and Tyrol are particularly “willing to hire”, in Carinthia and in Burgenland there will be the fewest new jobs. There will be more employees in gastronomy and the hotel industry in particular.

The shortage of skilled workers continues to plague Austrian companies, especially in retail, gastronomy and the hotel industry it is difficult to fill vacancies.

Around 40,000 companies in 40 countries are surveyed quarterly for the survey by the temporary employment agency ManpowerGroup. The current survey was conducted in April 2022, in Austria 512 companies took part.
