Thanks to the partnership with the Senegalese Red Cross and the Spanish Red Cross, the commune of Gueule-Tapée-Fass-Colobane was able to benefit from a processing unit for local products to help the socio-economic empowerment of women in the locality. Thus, several women trained at the level of the said unit, received their training certificate.

Ms. Bafou Ba, President of the Senegalese Red Cross, said: “This project was one of the projects that the Senegalese Red Cross, in partnership with the Spanish Red Cross and the municipalities of Spain to finance a project for the empowerment of women. This empowerment, we thought that women and especially young people, needed support in this municipality and we had in the evaluation because a project is always made from an evaluation, a diagnosis which allows to note the needs of these populations, of these vulnerable groups. And we had noticed that there were a lot of vulnerable women in this commune”.

And Ms. Bâ continues: “And there was also the Tilene market next door. In the evaluation that we had done, we also had to approach the traders of the Tilène market because if it is necessary to produce, we must sell the products that we manufacture and that was done. The Senegalese Red Cross helped the town set up a processing unit for local products, but building a unit was not enough because it was necessary to train the people who were going to produce, but it was also necessary to provide these women with work tools. , it’s the machines, the dryers, all the equipment necessary for production”.

She believes that they have made raw materials available to these women’s groups. And in the exhibitions, all kinds of products were made by these women.
“And manufacturing, it is essential but it must be supported by a marketing strategy for these products. Steps have been taken at this level and I am sure with the commitment that I noted with the mayor of this municipality that the essential will be done. The mayor spoke about the organization of weekly, monthly fairs in the future. We have agreed to continue this partnership, which will be a win-win for the populations,” she concludes.

Mr. Abdou Aziz Paye, Mayor of Gueule-tapée-Fass-Colobane, says: “Today’s ceremony marks the end of a process that we started with the Senegalese Red Cross and the Spanish Red Cross. Indeed, we were able to benefit from the support and assistance of the Senegalese Red Cross and the Spanish Red Cross to set up a processing unit for local products. New equipment has been delivered to the processing unit located here. Today, training has been carried out and we are going to distribute 200 to 300 training certificates that women have had to have because the red cross and the commune of Gueule-tapée-Fass-Colobane firmly believe that in order to establish development sustainable, to get people out of a certain poverty line, it is necessary to carry out training which allows these women to become independent, to have the possibility of working for themselves by creating a closed economy which allows them to boost the development of their municipality a little and on this too, always with our partners, we continue to make financing, even a month ago, we had proceeded to 243 financing for the women of the municipality “.

According to the mayor, the women of the commune had to benefit from financing from another partner, which amounted to 11 million CFA francs and the town hall financed 11 projects to enable women to further strengthen their capacities.
He wanted to thank the Senegalese Red Cross and the Spanish Red Cross.
“Today in my town, all the necessary arrangements are in place. We have an economic office which is facilitated by men who are there, we have trained 20 economic animators to help women become more economically stronger. We have a one-stop shop to deal with justice and legal issues that women may have. We have an office that deals with youth employment and in collaboration with the Ministry of Employment and Labor,” the Mayor suggested.
Mr. Abdou Aziz Paye believes that they are waiting for the end of the work on the place of the obelisk to organize fairs to allow the populations, to allow the craftsmen, the young people to show their talent. We have a teenager’s office which is there, the young people are there, are trained, are equipped and they hold discussion sessions with each other to strengthen themselves further.
