Rome – Sumatran tiger, an endangered species, has given birth to a cub. The female cub was born to female tigress ‘Tila’ and male tiger ‘Casih’ at the Bioparco Zoo in Rome. The zoo officials said that the cub is healthy and active. The tiger cub has not yet been exhibited to the public.

There are less than 600 Sumatran tigers in the world, including in the tropical forests of the Indonesian island. Therefore, the zoo staff takes care of the tiger cub with great care and attention. The child’s mother Tila was born in 2011 at Chester Zoo in England. Father Kasih was born in 2014 at Beauval Zoo in France, having come to Rome from Heidelberg Zoo in Germany.

The Sumatran tiger, a subspecies of the tiger, is critically endangered due to poaching, habitat destruction and human-wildlife conflict.
