Energy crisis: Luminus again offers fixed energy contracts

Barely three months following abandoning the fixed contracts, the energy supplier Luminus decided to return them from January 1, the market having stabilized sufficiently, report Thursday De Standaard, Het Nieuwsblad, the Gazet van Antwerpen and Het Belang Van Limburg.

“Whoever signs such a contract must take into account that it will take at least 30 days before the energy is delivered”, Luminus spokesman Nico De Bie told newspapers. This waiting period might go up to 90 days.

“If prices were to fall sharply in the coming months, a fixed contract might (however) prove to be costly”, warns Leen Vandezande, spokesperson for the Flemish regulator of the electricity and gas market (Vreg). Other energy suppliers are still waiting before deciding.
