Toilet ban and men’s card – schoolchildren take to the streets across the country

According to the school authorities in the English counties of Cornwall, Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, a student protest got “out of control”. The Teenager protested on Friday against new rules, according to which students and students no longer allowed to go to the toilet during class. In a school in St. Helens, male teachers are said to have even measured the length of the pupils’ skirts. At Penrice Academy in the village of St Austell in Cornwall, girls are also being asked to show a red card when they’re on their period.
The protests were called for the evening before via social media. At a school in the city of Leeds, angry parents accompanied their children to the demonstrations. The new school policy has “taken away their human rights” from their sons and daughters, they said.
In the Lincolnshire town of Boston, dozens of students protested against the “prison rules”. At some schools, “tables were knocked over,” and the young demonstrators were then forbidden to go to recess. Videos on social media show some teenagers shaking the school fence while chanting slogans.
Schools don’t want to hear anything
A mother told the Daily Mail that school management has refused to communicate with students since they announced the new rules. “They just don’t listen to the parents or the kids, so today the kids took matters into their own hands,” the woman said.
Another mother said her son was fed up with “the way he was being treated.” She herself often turned to the school administration. “I fell on deaf ears.” The mother of a student claims her daughter was kicked out of school Thursday when she went to the bathroom without permission.
“The behavior of a small number of students is unacceptable”
The schools in the affected regions reacted to the protests. A letter to parents said: “Our students have the right to express their opinions in a calm and safe manner, however the behavior of a small number of students was unacceptable,” the St Austell school administration said.
Several parents have been contacted by school authorities to pick up their children. A Leeds mother said she was called four times on Friday to collect her daughter. However, since the woman was at work, she was unable to fetch her child. On the last call, the school office threatened to call the police if they didn’t pick up their daughter. The girl has since been kicked out of school, the woman said.
