Epic Games and Microsoft Help Ukraine Donate Fortnite Proceeds to Humanitarian Efforts

Epic Games’ game “Fortnite” posted on Twitter on March 20, announcing that it would donate the game’s income from March 20 to April 3 to aid humanitarian relief work in Ukraine.

Epic Games subsequently issued a detailed statement on the webpage, stating that players’ spending on V-Buck and other virtual goods during the specified period will be donated to organizations such as Direct Relief, UNICEF, Food Programme and the United Nations Refugee Agency. The money will be used to provide emergency treatment, water and legal aid to war-affected Ukrainians.

In addition, Epic said that it will donate in the fastest way, and will not wait for the platform and payment service to complete the transfer, but will donate the money as soon as possible according to the transaction record. And Microsoft will also join the action, donating all Fortnite revenue on the Microsoft Store before April 3rd.

According to the website update, as of March 21, the action has raised US$36,000,000 (equivalent to approximately HK$281.78 million).
