This visit is the first visit in 13 years by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Iraq, who arrived in Baghdad at the head of a large, high-level government and parliamentary delegation.

Today, Monday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan received an official reception at Baghdad International Airport, during his first visit.

The office of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani stated that Al-Sudani received, on Monday morning, the President of the Turkish Republic, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who is visiting Iraq at the head of a high-level official delegation.

The grounds of Baghdad International Airport witnessed an official reception for the guest president, in which the Iraqi and Turkish national anthems were played, the honor guard representing the various types of our armed forces was reviewed, and artillery fired a 21-gun salute at the reception ceremony, according to the statement.

The statement explained that Sudanese and Erdogan will hold official bilateral discussions, in addition to expanded discussions at the level of the government and ministers from both sides, and the visit will witness discussion of water, economic, security files, the development road project, developments in the situation in the region, and the signing of a bilateral strategic framework agreement aimed at expanding the partnership in the economic fields. trade, exchange experiences, and confront common environmental and regional challenges.”

Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani described Erdogan’s visit to Iraq as “not a passing visit,” and it will include, for the first time, developing solutions instead of transferring crises.

It is hoped that 20 memorandums of understanding will be signed between the two sides, while the issues of border security and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, as well as the water issue, the development path, and the export of Kurdistan’s oil, dominate the visit’s agenda.
