Ericsson & stc Partner for Mission-Critical Networks & Public Safety in Saudi Arabia

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – Ericsson and specialized by stc have formalized their collaboration to enhance public safety solutions in Saudi Arabia, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance mission-critical connectivity for first responders. The agreement focuses on leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to improve the effectiveness of public safety networks.

The partnership aims to accelerate the delivery of AI-powered solutions tailored to the specific needs of Saudi Arabia’s public safety sector. This includes enhancing communication systems for first responders, enabling faster and more coordinated responses to emergencies. Specialized by stc will contribute its localized expertise and understanding of the Saudi market, while Ericsson will provide its advanced technological capabilities in AI and mission-critical networks.

This collaboration builds upon a broader, five-year agreement between stc Group and Ericsson, signed in 2025, to accelerate 5G and digital infrastructure development across Saudi Arabia. That earlier agreement signaled a commitment to bolstering the Kingdom’s digital transformation, with a particular emphasis on expanding and upgrading network infrastructure. The current MoU represents a focused application of that broader strategy to the public safety domain.

The initiative was highlighted at the World Defence Expo 2026, where both companies showcased advancements in mission-critical communications. The expo provided a platform to demonstrate the potential of integrated technologies to improve situational awareness and operational efficiency for security forces and emergency services.

According to statements released by both companies, the AI-enabled public safety solutions will focus on improving incident detection, resource allocation and overall emergency response times. The partnership will as well explore the integration of advanced technologies such as video analytics and predictive policing to enhance public safety capabilities.

The collaboration between Ericsson and specialized by stc is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader Vision 2030 plan, which prioritizes investments in technology and infrastructure to diversify the economy and improve the quality of life for citizens. The enhancement of public safety networks is considered a key component of achieving these goals.

As of February 16, 2026, neither Ericsson nor stc has publicly detailed the specific financial commitments associated with the MoU, nor a firm timeline for the deployment of the AI-powered solutions. Further details are expected to be released as the project progresses.
