Erwin Nyhoff: ‘Elvis Presley is much more than putting on a wig and uttering some catchphrases’

With his most recent program Elvis Presley, his legacy, his music Erwin Nyhoff wants to show the importance of Elvis Presley in the broadest sense of the word. Elvis is often portrayed as a caricature. Like: just put a wig on your head, just shout something and then you’ve come a long way.

That superficial image bothers Nyhoff, because Presley had a major influence. He was a white man with a black one feel.

He brought white and black closer together, created his own way of dancing and an authentic hairstyle, and loosened up the way of dressing.
