Estée Lauder launches app to help visually impaired people wear makeup

by Alexandra Hartman Editor-in-Chief

Voice-Enabled Makeup Assistant (VMA) is the latest addition to the Estée Lauder group. This application was developed with visually impaired people who expressed the need for a tool that gives them more independence when applying makeup.
VMA uses voice instruction technologies. Consumers receive audio feedback and guidance on whether their lipstick, eye shadow, or foundation is on evenly. Thanks to artificial intelligence, VMA identifies the make-up deposited on the user’s face and assesses the uniformity of the application. The tool targets areas where touch-ups are needed.
