Ethiopian Tigist Assefa set a new marathon world record on Sunday. In the race in Berlin, the 26-year-old ran under 2:12 hours, the official time still remains to be seen. Crossing the finish line showed a time of 2:11:52. The old record was set by Kenyan Brigid Kosgei, who ran 2:14:04 in Chicago in 2019.
