EU imposes sanctions on Russian officials for human rights violations

The European Union imposed sanctions against nine Russians under the regime “for violations of human rights.” So, in the “black list”, in particular, was the Deputy Minister of Justice Oleg Sviridenko and four judges. Relevant materials published in the Official Journal of the European Union.

Other defendants include Andrey Zadachin, investigator for especially important cases of the Main Directorate of the Investigative Committee, Denis Kolesnikov, head of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee, Danila Mikheev, director of the Independent Expert organization, and Dmitry Komnov, head of pre-trial detention center No. 5 Vodnik, who acted as an expert in this process.

Restrictions were introduced for human rights violations, in particular, they are related to the case of oppositionist Vladimir Kara-Murza (recognized in Russia as a foreign agent – approx. ed.), sentenced to 25 years.

Those on the list are banned from entering the European Union, and their assets in the countries of the community are subject to freezing.
