Eugenio Suárez continues to perform with the bat. This Wednesday he hit a grand slam and drove in five runs in the Arizona Diamondbacks’ 11-4 victory over the Colorado Rockies.

The hit at Chase Field was his first with the bases loaded for his current team. It came in the sixth inning of the game, off reliever Riley Pint’s pitches to left-center field.

Another extra base hit

One chapter earlier, Suárez had scored a double to drive in a run and extend his team’s lead against the Rocallos team.

The native of Bolívar state went 3-for-4 with a run scored and five RBIs (he already has 69). In addition, the home run was number 18 in the current campaign, in which he has had an offensive awakening since last July.

Other Venezuelans

Other Venezuelans who also had a productive day were Andrés Giménez and Wilyer Abreu.

Cleveland Guardians second baseman Giménez finished 3-for-4 with a trio of RBIs in his team’s 6-1 victory over the Chicago Cubs.

Abreu hit a solo homer in the game that his Boston Red Sox lost in extra innings 9-7 to the Texas Rangers. The outfielder went 1-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI.
