European film awards with Austrian favourites

Things are getting serious for Marie Kreutzer: the successful Austrian director is one of the favorites for the European Film Awards, which will be presented on Saturday in the Harpa concert hall in Iceland’s capital, Reykjavík. Kreutzer’s Sisi drama “Corsage” is in the running for the award for best film, and Kreutzer himself has been nominated for best director in the category. And her Luxembourg leading actress Vicky Krieps can hope for the trophy for best actress.

An Austrian production is also in the running for the young talents. The Viennese Kurdwin Ayub is one of the favorites in the European Discovery category with her feature film debut “Sonne”, which was already honored at the Berlinale.
