The Salzburger defeated the French Marceau Garnier in the final. After the victories of synchronized swimmers Anna-Maria and Eirini-Marina Alexandri and karateka Bettina Plank the day before, Knapp ensured the third ÖOC medal in Poland. Unlike some other sports, there is no simultaneous European Championship in climbing, which is why not all aces compete.
In the lead, Knapp’s teammates Mattea Pötzi and Eva Maria Hammelmüller as well as Mathias Posch reached the final scheduled for Saturday.
