A melancholy date is approaching for European space travel: After 27 years, the Ariane 5 launch vehicle is to take off on its last flight into space on Thursday night, 24 hours later than planned due to bad weather. On its last journey from the European spaceport in Kourou in French Guiana, the aging vehicle is to carry a German and a French satellite into space.
