European stock indices rise at the close of trading

European stock indices rose at the close of trading today, Monday, with a cautious evaluation by investors of the recent monetary policy decisions.

The US Federal Reserve, the European Central Bank and the Bank of England raised interest rates by 50 basis points from each of them last week as part of efforts to control inflation.

According to CNBC, officials of those central banks hinted at continuing to tighten monetary policies during 2023.

At the end of the session, the Stoxx 600 Index rose 0.3%, or 1 point, to 426 points. The British FTSE 100 rose by 0.4%, or by 29 points, to 7,361 points, and the German DAX rose by 0.4%, or by regarding 50 points, to 13,943 points, while the French CAC 40 by 0.3%, or 20 points, to 6,473 points.
