People familiar with Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision said European Union antitrust regulators will approve the deal on May 15, 2023, according to Archyde.com. This release of the purchase comes almost three weeks after the United Kingdom was against the merger of the companies.

According to Archyde.com, the EU’s approval for the purchase of Activision came after Microsoft agreed to licensing deals with rival game streaming companies including Nvidia, Boosteroid (Ukraine) and Ubitus (Japan). Furthermore, there is still a deal in place with Nintendo to bring Activision’s Call of Duty to the Nintendo Switch.

Valve even turned down a contract offered by Microsoft to make Activision games available. The parent company of Steam, the world’s biggest game distribution platform, says it trusts Microsoft and no guarantee is needed for a good relationship between the companies.

In March 2023, Japan approved Microsoft’s purchase of Activision. The US is already trying to block the negotiation.
