Europe is interested in continuing the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine. This was stated by the head of the Russian Ministry of Energy Nikolai Shulginov.

“We believe that European countries that currently receive gas are interested in extending the deal. Therefore, there will probably be some kind of communication and agreement to continue transit, probably with the participation of other intermediaries,” said Nikolai Shulginov, as quoted by RIA Novosti.

At the end of 2024, the gas transit contract between Russia and Ukraine expires. Kiev stated that the country will not renew the agreement. The Ukrainian authorities intend to use their gas transportation network.

Agency Bloomberg with reference to a source, wrote that Europe is against Ukraine extending the gas transit agreement with Russia. It is noted that the end of the deal is likely to change the supply chain.
